Starting at Portadown Boat Club, we travel (36 miles/58 kms) up the towpath to Newry and on to Dundalk, where our first stop is at DKIT Campus.

After refreshments, we continue (40 miles/62 kms) towards Navan to celebrate the Summer Solstice at our second stop – the iconic Hill of Tara. Michael from Maguire’s at Tara has generously donated more cycling fuel to replenish our spirits. This is sure to be an unforgettable experience as we watch the sun come up on the ceremonial and mythical capital of Ireland, and the seat of the High Kings of Ireland.

Then it’s (22 miles/36 kms) on to Dublin for the final leg and shortest distance of the journey. Passing through the Castleknock gates of Phoenix Park brings a mixture of relief and accomplishment before exiting via the Cabra gate and finishing at Cabra Community Centre, where there will be a congratulatory reception and much celebration!

Alternative distance options are available for those not wanting to cycle the full 100 miles:

Option One – 36 miles Portadown to Dundalk
Option Two – 62 miles Dundalk to Dublin via Tara
Each peloton will be guided by two motorbike or car marshals at the front and rear so no one will get lost and camaraderie will be fostered. The full sportive is broken down into manageable distances over the course of the journey.
When you have completed the ChallengeHer sportive, we would encourage you to use your level of fitness and try out other rewarding cycle sportives available in Northern Ireland. A full list of independent cycling events is available from Cycling Ulster and Cycling Ireland .
